Every Year NorcalKarters.com compiles all the stats from
Club Races and Regional programs from the Norcal and western
Reno Kart tracks and uses a mathematical process to find the
areas top ranked Drivers. The points are
determined on the number of karts in the class, for example:
in a 10 kart field the winner would receive ten points; the
driver finishing last would receive 1 point. For IKF Region 11,
Red Line Oil Karting Championship, Pro Kart North and
Norcal Outlaw races the drivers will receive
double points for the higher level of competition, for
example: if there are 10 karts in the class, the winner
would receive 20 points, while the driver finishing last
would receive 2 points. In order to qualify for the top ten,
drivers must have competed in 8 or more races before the
drop, some classes will be based on a wave. The points from each race would be compiled together
minus the dropped races for low finishes, then the total
would get divided by the number of races run, finding the
average points score for the driver. This particular method
rewards the driver scoring good finishes against tough
fields with high kart counts.
****Please note, one track
did not have their club races counted due to results not
being made available, that track was Stockton Motorplex.
Only the Outlaw and Gold Rush races were counted due to the
results being made available through mylaps.****
The SR category had a lot of good drivers competing for the
number one spot as many Jr 2 drivers moved up in 2011. The
Sr rankings are one of the toughest competition to be in the
top 10 as many Sr classes are combined: Tag, Rotax, Shifter,
Super Sportsman, Clones and 4 Cycles. 55 drivers made it
into the ranking system with the correct number of races
making the battle for the top 10 competitive.
Ranking 1st in 2011 is Rotax Driver TJ
Fischer. Fischer had 7 double points races and 1 single
points races. Out of the 8 races counted for Fischer, scored
a total of 142 points and an average point score of 17.8 per
event. Fischer, recently switched to RK Birel made chassis
early season, had 1 wins, 3 top threes and 1 top fives this
past season running only Prokart, Skusa Spring and Summer
Nationals, Gatorz and selective Outlaw and Gold Rush events.
In the previous years of the NorcalKarters.com driver
rankings Fischer has showed massive improvements. In 2008,
Fischer landed a depressing 23rd position in Jr 2. However
in 2009 TJ made a substantial jump to 10th in his
last year as a Jr 2 pilot. In his Sr rookie season Fischer
progressed to the 7th position leading up to 2011’s Sr
Number 1 ranked driver. Something about TJ that not a lot
of people know about him not only is he a driver but he is
dedicated full time to his HS football. This past football
season TJ was the starting wide receiver for his section
champion football team and looks to play for college ball.
In the meantime of full time racing and football, TJ has
managed to land a spot on a team in the Star Mazda Series
for 2012. With a few test days TJ is looking forward to
driving a formula Mazda as well as selective karting events
in 2012.
