2-22-08 MMS Florida Winter Tour Moroso Report
|
The 2008 Florida Winter Tour has exhibited the talents of drivers under different tents, all sharing the same thing: MMS/Doug Sharp power. Round One of Group B in Homestead for the MMS crew had motor packages on Logan Bearden in the Cadet field and Edward Fortier in Spec Racer. Needing some extra power, Santino Ferucci decided during the weekend to put on a MMS carburetor, resulting in domination for Sunday’s final. Sharp has over 20 years of working on engines and carburetors. Bearden has been working with Sharp for over two years, developing a hot item which can only be described by its new name: MMS “Big Mouth” Carburetors. “Carburetors have always been the key to engine performance,” stated Sharp. “My dad has built carburetors for over 40 years so I had a great teacher. There are a lot of super engine builders, but not a lot of carb specialist.” Round Two of Group B brought not only top-10 finishes, but a couple of wins for Sharp and the MMS crew. Cadet was a huge success, with Bearden consistent on Saturday qualifying and finishing the pre-final in third. In the last lap, in the last corner of the final Bearden took the boldpass and crossed the finish line in first. Sunday would have him finishing the final in 4th. Ferucci also had a great weekend, qualifying pole on Saturday and Sunday for Cadet, winning both pre-finals and finishing first on Sunday’s final. Spec Racer saw Fortier, and new MMS “Big Mouth” Carburetor customer Pat Iannucci, fielding the class. Iannucci had a consistent weekend, finishing the finals in 6th on Saturday, and 4th on Sunday. He was the highest finishing Parilla for the weekend. Fortier had a slight struggle, but got up to speed on Sunday starting and finishing the final in 11th. Fortier has also been working on development with Sharp on Tag motors and carburetors. “Macho (Fortier) came to me after Conner Daly’s 2007 performance in Stars where we had five poles and one win,” said Sharp. “Macho has been very fast with my Leopard engine package. His second-place finish during the first FWT Group B race was spectacular against the Roc TT’s.” Next up for team MMS is the WKA Manufacture’s Cup Race at Lowe’s Motor Speedway February 29th-March 2nd. For information on MMS “The Biggest Little Kart Shop in the World”, please contact Mike Botehlo at 775.322.4549. For more information on the “Big Mouth” Carburetors call Doug Sharp at 503.757.6120. |

2-17-08 Norcal IKF Rejects Infineon for first IKF Race
| Last November the NCTA and the
Region 11 track delegates met for their annual board meeting
to discuss new rules, regulations, and the upcoming seasons
IKF Schedule. In that meeting the Infineon Kart Track
delegate pleaded with the NCTA to host the first ever IKF
Region 11 race.
This posed a big opportunity for the NCTA as this would be the first Race hosted by the NCTA instead of a club, and could potentially raise money for the Non-profit series to help raise the bar for the series as the premiere Northern California Kart Racing series. There were many obstacles for the Norcal Board to overcome to successfully put on this race, however they were determined to launch the 2008 season with a bang and another trip to Hawaii raffled off for there customers at Seasons end. Obstacles to be overcome by the NCTA was the issue of fuel and selling it in five gallon increments, a costly Friday practice, and requiring all 80 shifters to buy a new silencer. Through the efforts put forth by the NCTA to still run a professional race for their Region, the final straw was Infineon Planning a Friday corporate event before the race eliminating practice for those who had never raced at the Facility. NorcalKarters.com has learned that NCTA has rejected the Infineon Kart Track for the 2008 season opener. "Another obstacle was tossed at us this morning by the Infineon Sales Office. The new issue and one old issue have made the opportunity to hold the race at Infineon unacceptable from the NorCal Boards viewpoint. We feel that the impact of these two issues are not in the best interest of our regular NorCal racers that have supported the NorCal Series for many years." Norcal President Ed Diederich. The first race of 2008 for the IKF Region 11 series will be moved to Blue Max Kart Club on the same dates. For any questions regarding the race and it season please direct them to the 2008 Question Forum thread HERE! |

Trackmagic LLC announced today that it has entered a manufacturing agreement with a premiere Italian company to build karts and components to Trackmagic specifications. All design, engineering, and R&D of karts will continue to be done by Trackmagic in the United States and will be determined and guided by testing and racing on U.S. tracks. We are combining Italian quality with American ingenuity to provide our customers with an outstanding racing product at a very competitive price. I am fortunate to have inherited such a loyal customer base and continue to be committed to Trackmagic’s American heritage.” Trackmagic has received tremendous support from existing dealers and customers. Memo Gidley, the Godfather of Trackmagic, has been involved in the evolution of Trackmagic and expects the new product line to be better than ever. “As everybody knows the relationship and the winning results I have had with Trackmagic karts has been instrumental in the success of my career. The reason we had so much success is because the company, and specifically, the late Fausto Vitello, had a no holds barred desire and attitude to win. In the relatively short time I have been around Andrew Alfonso, I have been impressed that he also shares that determination to be the best by building the best karts possible. I know Andrew has one agenda with this new manufacturing partnership, to build a winning race kart. I am excited to be part of this and to help Trackmagic continue their success.” In addition to their new racing karts, Trackmagic will introduce baby karts and a cadet program of equal quality as well as a new premium parts line for all makes of karts. 2-5-08 Bordogna Region 7 Report
| Bordogna Racing Engines went
down to the Region 7 IKF Sprint Race this last weekend in
Support of Bordogna Drivers Jonny Norris and Federico
Paoloni from Argentina. Bordogna's support paid off as Danny
and his drivers experienced success. Norris and Paoloni came back from Region 7's IKF opener with solid finishes. Saturday Jonny Norris set fast time in Comer Qualifying and backed it up with a heat race win. Battling for the lead most of the race, a lapped kart held up Norris with laps winding down, but Norris was still able to capture a second place finish. Sunday weather moved into Calspeed Kart Track and provided severe wet conditions. Paoloni used his experience from Argentina in the rain, and started the final up front. Unfortunately the severe weather caused trouble for young Federico, However Bordogna Drivers were again able to successfully come home with solid finishes for Sunday. Paoloni got a hard earned Fourth place finish while Norris came home sixth. See Bordogna for Engine work before the coming season. www.bordogna.us |
