Driver Rankings No. 2's

Driver rankings are calculated on an Average finish of races competed. In order to calculate the best finishers of Region 11, there have been qualifications based on races competed, NOT performance. First, each competitor must compete in atleast one IKF regional series race. Second, the competitor must have a minimum of eight races, with a minimum of ten karts competing in the race. When divisions do not have the 8 races containing ten karts or more, the division is calculated on a curve taking the next highest average races with ten karts or more.

The 2007 Jr 1 NorcalKarters.com 2nd ranked driver in average finish in races competed is Brody Zink. Brody is another Infineon Product logging most of his great numbers at the big facility. next Brody looks to focus more on the IKF schedule to further his experience. Bottom line, this kid is gonna be good.

The 2007 Jr 2 NorcalKarters.com 2nd ranked driver in average finish of races competed is Donavon Wheeler. Wheeler few IKF races but showed well at the ones he did attend. Had some great runs at Infineon and looks to be a championship contender in the IKF series for 2008.

The 2008 Sr Norcalkarters.com 2nd ranked driver in average finish of races competed is Kevin Tanaka. Tanaka had some stellar runs in the IKF series. Consistency was a major factor as Kevin always showed his nose up front. One of the cleanest drivers in the series ranking with Botelho who ranks 3rd. Kept his nose clean and drove smart. Still looking for that championship however in 2008.

The 2007 Masters Norcalkarters.com 2nd ranked driver in average finish of races competed is Lance Grimm. Another one known for consistency, Lance did step on the podium most every race. With his strength over long races Grimm excelled over others. Now with more experience Lance will look to contend for a Championship in 2008.

 

Driver Rankings No. 3's

The 2007 Jr 1 NorcalKarters.com 3rd ranked driver in average finish in races competed is Joseph Keaton. Joseph was merely unbeatable at Inifineon this year in both the Gazelle and the Comer's. Didn't quite get the luck he was hoping for at the IKF level, however being a big kid Keaton had the odds against him. Joseph will be moving up a class in 2008 to contend with the big Kids.

The 2007 Jr 2 NorcalKarters.com 3rd ranked driver in average finish in races completed is Melissa Cole. Melissa didn't have the great finishes some of the other drivers in her category had, but nevertheless she did meet the criteria. Cole is moving up to Sr's for 2008 to much higher competition.

The 2007 Sr NorcalKarters.com 3rd ranked driver in average finish in races competed is Michael Botelho Jr. Backing up his win from last year at the Reno IKF, Botelho showed the consistency of a true veteran all year. Never having a bad finish, Botelho was a contender in the highly contested 125 National Cup class. Botelho looks to be continuing his efforts in 2008.

The 2007 Masters NorcalKarters.com 3rd ranked driver in average finish of races competed is Mathais Kattenek. Mathais got the opening win at Davis and included some good podium finishes. Kattenek will be looking for a more complete season for next year.

 

 

Driver Rankings No. 4's

The 2007 Jr 1 NorcalKarters.com 4th ranked driver in average finish in races competed is Austin Elliott. Coming on late in the season, Austin switched chassis mid season and put up some good finishes to finish out the year. Some early DNF's however kept him from scoring a higher rank. Look for this kid to show some major talent in the coming year.

The 2007 Jr 2 Norcalkarters.com 4th ranked driver in average finish in races competed is Ryan Garcia. Ryan has some strong runs ending in some bad luck including a nasty flip at Stockton. If he runs IKF full time in 2008 could contend for a championship.

The 2007 Sr NorcalKarters.com 4th ranked driver in average finish in races competed is Chris Scribner. Scribner finished second in the 125 National Cup points by a mere 5 points. Gathering 5 wins on the season, Scribner will be back for one more year to continue his quest for the elusive 125 National Cup Championship. Scribner received much Mechanical bad luck in 2007 and hopes joining a new team Chris hopes he will get the luck he needs.

The 2007 Masters NorcalKarters.com 4th ranked driver in average finish in races competed is Steve Dow. Capturing two wins and 6 podiums on the IKF circuit, Dow found himself with a Championship in 2007. The Masters 80 Pilot will be back to defend his Title in the coming season.

 

Driver Rankings No. 5's

The 2007 Jr 1 NorcalKarters.com 5th ranked driver in average finish in races competed is Tucker Dunbar. Tucker did not fair well at the IKF ranks, but the kid is new and gave some impressive runs at the club level. Looking to expand his schedule in 2008, Tucker's face will bee seen quite a bit more through the pits.

The 2007 Jr 2 NorcalKarters.com 5th ranked driver in average finish in races competed is Kelsey Nilsson. Kelsey is new to Karting, but logged major seat time this last season in IKF and other club races. In 2008 Kelsey will be a front runner contending for the championships in the Jr 2 ranks.

The 2007 Sr NorcalKarters.com  5th ranked driver in average finish in races competed is Jason Toft. Jason grabbed two wins in the 125 National Cup class including the Championship by a slim margin. Tied for fourth in Sr ranks Scribner, Toft will be back next season looking for the first Back to back championships in 125 National Cup Competition.

The 2007 Masters NorcalKarters.com 5th ranked driver in average finish in races competed is Jeff Wamre. Jeff had a few solid runs for podium, but is still lacking experience. Wamre should be a contender in 2008.

 

Driver Rankings No. 6's

First, each competitor must compete in atleast one IKF regional series race. Second, the competitor must have a minimum of eight races, with a minimum of ten karts competing in the race. When divisions do not have the 8 races containing ten karts or more, the division is calculated on a curve taking the next highest average races with ten karts or more.

The 2007 Jr 1 NorcalKarters.com 6th ranked driver in average finish in races competed is Logan Wyman. Logan had a very consistent season in finishes. Showed times of brilliance, the kid has some growing to do. Should very much be a force in the coming season.

The 2007 Jr 2 NorcalKarters.com 6th ranked driver in average finish in races competed is Wyatt Nilsson. Perhaps the most aggressive driver in the Jr 2 ranks, Wyatt's urgency could pay off in 2008. He got his first wins in 2007 and now has the winning taste. Kid is eager for the success.

The 2007 Sr NorcalKarters.com 6th ranked driver in average finish in races competed is Tyler Espinosa. Arriving on the scene in 2007 Tyler has the talent to win, and the intelligence to keep himself out of trouble. Espinosa will be debuting with a new team in 2008. Watch for this kid to grow.

The 2007 Masters NorcalKarters.com 6th ranked driver in average finish in races competed is Wayne Lorenz. Wayne was new to Kart Racing in 2007 and got much needed seat time throughout the clubs in Norcal. Now looking to expand his effort in 2008, Lorenz could very well give the top drivers a hassle in the coming season.

 

2007 Driver Rankings No. 7's

The 2007 Jr 1 NorcalKarters.com 7th ranked driver in average finish in races competed is Justin Cole. Justin had some great runs and came on strong towards the end of the season earning his first podium. Cole is looking to make a big impact in 2008 with use much earned seat time he got in 2007.

The 2007 Jr 2 Norcalkarters.com 7th ranked driver in average finish in races competed is Timothy Weddle. Timothy had some very impressive numbers this year.Weddle got 3 second place finishes. Timothy would have finished in a much higher position however did not have the proper eligibility due to race count. Weddle will be moving up the Sr. ranks for 2008.

The 2007 Sr. NorcalKarters.com 7th ranked driver in average finish of races competed is Robert Towne. No doubt Towne should be ranked up in the top five, however he had exactly eight races and had a few disappointing finishes that scrapped his average. Nevertheless, Towne is #7.

The 2007 Masters NorcalKarters.com 7th ranked driver in average finish in races competed is Darrell Dean. Dean one of the few racers in it for the sport, Dean got some good finishes this year earning him a top ten ranking.

 

2007 Driver Rankings No. 8's

Driver rankings are calculated on an Average finish of races competed. In order to calculate the best finishers of Region 11, there have been qualifications based on races competed, NOT performance. First, each competitor must compete in atleast one IKF regional series race. Second, the competitor must have a minimum of eight races, with a minimum of ten karts competing in the race. When divisions do not have the 8 races containing ten karts or more, the division is calculated on a curve taking the next highest average races with ten karts or more.

The 2007 Jr 1 NorcalKarters.com 8th ranked driver in average finish in races competed is Nicky Prichard. Nicky is new on the scene and logged some much needed seat time. Prichard finished sixth in Championship points in IKF's HPV-1 class and fifth in the Jr Comer class. Nicky Prichard will be a major contender in the 2008 season.

The 2007 Jr 2 NorcalKarters.com 8th ranked driver in average finish in races competed is Colby Potts. Potts had much success in his new PCR and Bordogna Power putting up good numbers. Unfortunately Colby  ran mostly down south which ranked him low due to eligibility for not completing enough races.

The 2007 Sr. NorcalKarters.com 8th ranked driver in average finish in races competed is Marc Green. Marc was very consistent in his racing however suffered some mechanical difficulties hurting his numbers. Green will look to bounce back in the coming season.

The 2007 Masters NorcalKarters.com 8th ranked driver in average finish in races competed is Cody McKinney. McKinney won the Formula 80 Masters opener at Davis, and logged solid finishes from there. A few penalties and Mechanical issues kept Cody from getting a higher rank.

 

 

2007 Driver Rankings No. 9's

First, each competitor must compete in atleast one IKF regional series race. Second, the competitor must have a minimum of eight races, with a minimum of ten karts competing in the race. When divisions do not have the 8 races containing ten karts or more, the division is calculated on a curve taking the next highest average races with ten karts or more.

The 2007 Jr 1 NorcalKarters.com 9th ranked driver in average finish in races competed is JR Razko. Razko had a very consistent season showing brilliance at times. Razko didn't get the results he was hoping for, but looks to be a contender in 2008.

The 2007 Jr 2 NorcalKarters.com 9th ranked driver in average finish in races competed is Hayden Parrino. Parrino started out the year strong but suffered some unfortunate luck and finished out the season at the club level. With some better luck in 2008 Hayden could compete for a championship.

The 2007 Sr. NorcalKarters.com 9th ranked driver in average finish in races competed is Nic Leduc. Nic won a few big races at Infineon and including a few in IKF competition. Nic will run for a new team in 2008. Leduc showed he could run strong and looks to step up his performance in 2008.

the 2007 Masters NorcalKarters.com 9th ranked driver in average finish in races competed is Bill McCallister Bill got a second place in the Davis opener and had some very impressive finishes at Infineon. Perhaps a sleeper when it comes to race time. Watch for McCallister to run a little more IKF regional races in 2008.

 

 

2007 Driver Rankings-No. 10's

The 2007 Jr 2 NorcalKarters.com 10th ranked driver in average finish in races competed is Cody Kay. Kay had some big wins in a few other classes, however they did not fit the eligibility thus dropping his ranking. Kay won two Region 11 championships in 2007.

The 2007 Sr. NorcalKarters.com 10th ranked driver in average finish in races competed is Amber Friedberg. Amber opened up the year with a bang winning the first race in TAG Light at Inifineon. Amber struggled the rest of the year switching chassis mid season. Friedberg should be competitive in 2008.

The 2007 Masters norcalkarters.com 10th ranked driver in average finish in races competed is Jay Neely. Neely was quick at times and earned himself four podiums on the season. Neely was real quick late and looks to make a move in 2008.

 

12-20-07 Swedetech Acquires two Prominate Engine Builders

NorcalKarters.com was recently informed in an Exclusive NorcalKarters.com Press release of the addition of two Engine Builders to SwedeTech Racing Engines for their growth expansion for 2008. Long time Engine Builders Vince Puleo and Kristian "Buck" Sorensen have joined the SwedeTech Racing Engines team.  Buck stated “In my first weeks at SwedeTech I have felt right at home, and I am looking forward to a successful future at SwedeTech.”

Vince and Buck have worked at Emmick Enterprises Engine shop for many years building 2-cycle engines.  The move will enable SwedeTech to expand their ability to provide superior top of the line Engines for Kart racing. "The addition of Vince and Buck will enable us to get a jump start on the Yamaha KT 100 and the Comer C50 and K80 engine development, as well as continue our current line of engine programs". Reine Persson owner of SwedeTech said "I am very excited with the addition of Vince and Buck to our team, and look forward to providing this extended line of engines for kart racing in 2008.

SwedeTech is dedicating their new Dyno to the development of Clutch Engines.  This program is where Vince and Buck will focus their efforts.  Vince Puleo and Buck Sorensen bring with them over 40 years of engine building experience. Puleo added, "I have worked in the Industry for many years and have watched it grow.  At SwedeTech I look forward to working with the new team and continuing my relationship with the same great customers I have come to know.”  

 

12-12-07 20th Annual PRI Trade Show

In the Mid 80's a gentlemen of the name Steve Lewis started a magazine by the name of Performance Racing Industry. This was the first magazine publication that lended itself to all forms of Motorsports. Steve Lewis then expanded his magazine into a Trade Show allowing all of his advertisers to showcase their latest products to the Motorsports world. Lewis' objective of promotions was to help all of is advertisers in the Motorsports market. Many major Motorsports businesses got their start with PRI in the Magazine and Trade show twenty years ago since the inception. Companies like Edelbrock, Simpson, Indy Cylinder heads, Flowmaster Mufflers, and even Scribner Plastics all grew within the Industry from the PRI Show. Today the PRI Trade Show is the biggest Performance racing show in the World. Rating in the top 100 of  Trade shows in the World.

Two years ago Steve Lewis made the attempt to bring the last known racing division to the Show in Kart Racing. Success it became as Lewis gave the Top Stars of karting a showcased race in the back parking lot of the show with Grandstands, TV, and Race fans. Pitting all the competitors under a big tent allowing the show attendees to walk around the event to see an up close view of the Kart Racing market. Never has Kart Racing seen such promotion in one race as to bring about the details of a sport that holds such competitiveness and affordability as Kart Racing.

Some of the companies showcasing their product were Birel, Tony Kart, Grand Products and Top Kart, Franklin Motorsports, Throttle Racing Products, Stars Of Karting, Parolin, and Jim Russell Racing Specialties. New things on Display were Russell Specialties new chassis line in the Parolin. The chassis with a complete IAME Leopard package will retail for $5000 in 2008. Jim Russell plans to get the customer into karting for as cheap as possible. The new kart will be the entry level kart for the karter. MMI will be the dealer for this line in 2008.

Molecule had their new products on display. The first was a spray that goes onto fire proof suits. This spray rejects oils and greases that attract to the suit. With this the suit will remain a deterrent for fire longer before it reaches the skin. Next was a cleaner to remove the oils and grease from the suit upon cleaning. The spray will take a suit that's covered in stains and make it look new again. NorcalKarters.com got a sample of the cleaner and will have a full test within the week.

Lastly was a new camera system. As many know NorcalKarters.com is becoming heavily involved in the technology of video systems for live broadcasting. This new system delivers high resolution quality kart cam footage. NorcalKarters.com tested this new video system on both Joey Hand's kart and Chris Scribner's kart and will be uploading footage of the Kart race within the coming week.
