Every year NorcalKarters.com issues awards for outstanding performing drivers on and off the track. There are two drivers awarded for their standout performances. One representing the top driver from the 8-15 year old age bracket and one form the 16-up age bracket. The 2008 Jr Driver of the year chosen by NorcalKarters.com is Kelsey Nilsson.

In 2008 Kelsey’s plate was full. Entering the season without an IKF win she was determined in 2008 to run up front to tally up the wins and earn valuable points towards the championship. In her season debut at Blue Max Kart club Nilsson launched 2008 with her first win. Throughout the season Nilsson put in solid runs in the three IKF Regional Categories she competed in as well as the ultra competitive Pro Kart Challenge series at Infineon. Nilsson also competed in the Stars of Karting Series as well as the 2-cycle Grand nationals in Santa Maria.

With her top performances Kelsey earned 9 wins and tallied up 27 top five finishes including winning the TAG Jr Championship in the IKF Region 11 Series. In 2009 Kelsey moves up to the senior ranks running Tag Sr. under the Kartel banner in the Pro Kart North series. Due to Kelsey’s top performances on the track and her stellar professionalism off the track, Kelsey Nilsson is NorcalKarters.com 2009 Jr Driver of the year.
